Katherine has called Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast home for over 15 years, bringing with her a lifelong passion for environmental conservation. Before moving to Costa Rica, she was actively involved in sea turtle conservation projects in the United States, gaining valuable experience in nest protection, data collection, and community engagement. As the lead scientist on the Playa Linda Turtle Conservation project, she applies her expertise to research, monitoring, and strategies for improving hatchling survival rates.

As a scientist on the Playa Linda Turtle Conservation project, Valerie contributes her expertise in research, environmental education, and hands-on conservation efforts. She is passionate about connecting communities with conservation initiatives, ensuring that local engagement plays a key role in protecting sea turtles. With a background in science education and a deep love for Costa Rica’s biodiversity, she is committed to fostering both awareness and action to support nesting sea turtles on Playa Linda

Oscar, from Reserva Playa Tortuga, is a key partner in the Playa Linda Turtle Conservation project, providing essential expertise in sea turtle ecology and conservation best practices. With years of experience working with nesting sites along Costa Rica’s coastline, he offers guidance on nest relocation, hatchery management, and data collection. His collaboration strengthens the project’s scientific foundation and ensures that Playa Linda’s conservation efforts align with the best practices in marine conservation.
